What the CBSE Value Education Kit Is
The CBSE Value Education Kit is a set of teaching resources published by the Board's Research and Development Unit. Its core is a teachers' handbook - Values Education: A Handbook for Teachers - together with sets of value cards organised into four grade bands, and an accompanying set of songs. The cards each carry a value, a story or situation that opens it up, and suggested classroom activities; the handbook explains how to run the session around them.
The grade bands are the thing to know before you order, because they decide how many different sets a school needs:
- Nursery to Class II - pictorial cards, very short situations, activity-led
- Classes III to V - story-led with simple reflection questions
- Classes VI to VIII - situations and dilemmas, discussion-led
- Classes IX to XII - case-based, closer to a moral reasoning exercise than a story
The CBSE material itself is published on the Board's academic website and can be downloaded. We say that plainly because some suppliers do not. What a school procures is not the right to use the content - it is the printed, classroom-durable version of it, and the material that surrounds it. A PDF run off an office printer on 80 gsm paper does not survive a term of being handled by eight-year-olds, and a chart that curls off the wall by October is not a teaching aid.

How Many Sets Does a School Need?
Count sections, not classes. Two sections of Class IV will want the material in the same period.

A worked figure. A school with two sections each from Class I to Class VIII - 16 sections, roughly 640 children - needs 16 card sets, 16 chart sets, about 20 handbooks, one assembly board and a USB. At the middle of the bands above that is in the region of Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 75,000 for the whole school, as a one-off that lasts several years. Per-child workbooks, if the school adopts them, are a separate annual line of roughly Rs. 1.4 to Rs. 1.6 lakh at 640 children. Indicative, confirmed on quotation.
How It Maps to CBSE Requirements
Value education in CBSE is integrated rather than examined as a separate subject with its own board paper. The Board has published value education material and life-skills manuals for schools to run alongside the curriculum, and the National Education Policy 2020 puts considerable weight on values and ethics in school education. What that means in practice is that every school has to be able to show how it delivers value education - a timetabled period, a structured assembly programme, integration across subjects, or some combination - and to have material in the classroom that an inspection can actually see.
The Board's own grade-band structure is what makes the material straightforward to procure: four bands, one card set per section, and a handbook for the teacher taking it. Ordering against that structure means a school can point to a set in every classroom rather than to a folder of photocopies in the staff room.

Specification first
We start from the grade bands and section count, agree paper, size, finish and lamination, and print a single proof set for the school to approve before the run. Changing a card after 30 sets are printed is expensive; changing it on a proof is not.

We print from the CBSE material, from a publisher's title we supply, or from artwork the school provides - including a school's own values framework, which many private schools already have and would rather use than a generic set.
Packed by section
Consignments are packed and labelled per section with a packing list that maps cartons to classes, so the school does not receive one mixed pallet and have to sort it. On a multi-school order, one carton set per school.

They are a common line in one, because they are cheap, countable and easy to photograph at handover, and because a whole school can be covered for well under a lakh.
